From Hood – July 26, 2012

Y’ALL:

Just got home from great trip to Winston/Salem NC, Camden NJ and Brooklyn NY. Absolutely loved my three days of wandering around Brooklyn and playing the Bell House. Very happy with all three shows as well as meeting new friends (Kathleen Edwards, Lee Renaldo, Steve Shelly), hanging with dear old friends and getting to see Lee Renaldo and Wilco at Prospect Park. What a great time.

My brand new website is up and running. Jenn did a great job and thanks to Andy Tennille for the cool photo (backstage at 40 Watt Club) on front page. It has all my just announced tour dates for the upcoming Heat Lightning Stories and Songs Fall Tour (keep an eye out for a few more soon). Tickets for a bunch of the shows go on sale Friday at 12PM ET so get there early. Hopefully there will be a video or two to post soon as well as a slide show of photos that Rebecca and I took at The Johnson Homestead (where I grew up). Our photos are the basis for the album cover and we could only use so many, so the rest will go up on the site as release date approaches.

Next week, I am playing a solo one-off in Charleston SC at The Pour House. It’s been nearly four years since my last show there and it is always a great time. I will have three guitars and a bunch of stories and songs to share. When I play solo, I tend to play songs from all over my catalog, including DBT songs, solo songs, and sometimes even an Adam’s House Cat song or two. WATCH OUT!

On a similar note, I am also playing a solo show in Lexington KY on the 16th at The Lexington Opera House with my old friend Todd Snider. We last performed together nearly a decade ago and I know tape traders who still talk about that show. Todd is an amazing performer and this will be the last SOLO show I will be playing for a while so make sure you come out if you can.

We just announced support for the fall tour and it is Hope For Agoldensummer. The Campbell sisters (Claire and Page) sing some of the most amazing harmonies I have ever heard and have an incredible new album out. Claire has been a part time member of The Downtown Rumblers and is a big part of my single “After It’s Gone” from earlier this year. I hope and imagine that we will get some cross singing going on for these shows and it should make the whole thing even more special.

DBT will be playing Floyd Fest in Floyd VA this weekend. There are still tickets left for Asheville and The Georgia Theatre. After these August shows, there won’t be any more DBT shows for a while so catch us while you can.

Thanks again for coming out this weekend and for all the kind words about the new album and projects. Hope to see all of y’all soon.

Yours in Rock,

Patterson
