Y’ALL,
Just back from a great weekend run with The Mystic Rumblers.
Played Crossroads in Huntsville AL, then The Double Decker Festival on the square in beautiful Oxford MS.
Playing my first ever full length sets with my Dad was as fun as I hoped, and then some.
Was also really happy with the crowd response to my new songs.
Doc Dailey and Magnolia Devil were excellent in Huntsville.
In Oxford, Dad enjoyed getting to catch up with old friends George Porter (Funky Meters) and Mavis and Yvonne Staples.
Watching Mavis’ set in Oxford was an incredible highlight. (She even dedicated songs to me, “Little David” (Dad) and her ‘cousins’, The Drive-By Truckers. AWESOME!This weekend I will be playing solo at Finsterfest on the grounds of the late great artist Howard Finster’s place.
It’s a place I’ve been wanting to go to since 1984 or so and it should be a very special event indeed.
A few dates have been announced and more will be announced soon enough either solo or with my bands The Mystic Rumblers or The Downtown Rumblers.
A great time is guaranteed.

Also, finally, earlier this year I taped a Mountain Stage session with the Downtown Rumblers, Mike Mills even joined us for “After Its Gone”. It was really a special night with a lot of great bands. The episode is scheduled for broadcast on May 4th. Air times vary by station, a complete list of which can be found here: http://www.mountainstage.org/mtnstageaffiliates.aspx
See You Soon.
